In this short video, we showcase the Bench Scale Dynamic Thickener Test, a critical laboratory procedure used to evaluate the settling behaviour and underflow characteristics of slurries in a controlled environment.

This test is designed to produce results that can be directly used to size full scale high-rate thickener equipment, and to map out the expected thickener operating performance window. The major variables investigated are feed solids mass concentration, flocculant type, flocculant dose and solids loading rate.

The dynamic thickener simulates continuous settling conditions, allowing for the collection of accurate measurements related to:

  • Underflow density
  • Overflow clarity
  • Rake torque trends
  • Solids flux and settling rate

The test setup replicates the action of an industrial thickener on a smaller scale, making it a cost-effective and time-efficient tool for assessing settling behaviour and improving water recovery.

Whether you're planning a new thickening system or optimising an existing one, dynamic thickener tests help bridge the gap between laboratory results and real-world performance.
