Sharing knowledge has always been part of Paterson & Cooke’s culture and as far back as 1995 we began presenting our well-known course on slurry pipeline design to inform our clients in the mining industry on the latest slurry pipeline technologies. This proved to be a great success and continues through our annual courses on slurry pipeline design, mine backfill and filtered, paste and thickened tailings that are offered from our various offices. We also present courses which are specifically tailored to operator training requirements, at mine sites. These on-site courses provide operators with a mix of basic theoretical knowledge and practical demonstrations which equip delegates with the tools and know-how they need to improve operational performance.
Paterson & Cooke’s Cape Town office recently presented several on-site training courses on dewatering and thickening. Practical demonstrations were done throughout the two-day course and attendees participated in hands-on activities such as conducting their own bench top tests. The tests included settling, flocculant mixing and dosing, and evaluating the impact of process related changes on a fully functional, small-scale thickening test apparatus. Integrating these practical tests with informative lectures over two days gave the delegates an excellent understanding of their own operations and how to improve the performance through a series of trouble-shooting exercises.
Our vast experience in providing training, coupled with our specialised engineering expertise and global network of slurry test laboratories, enables us to tailor courses to suit specific needs. To find out more, contact us via our website.
