Bernardt joined Paterson & Cooke in January 2010 and is a senior engineer based in our Cape Town office in South Africa. His key areas of specialisation are mine backfill, grout pack support systems in underground mines, laboratory test work, pump and pipeline systems design, as well as capital and operating cost estimates. He has also co-authored and presented papers on mine backfill designs and related test work.

Bernardt is an experienced mechanical engineer with valuable exposure to mine backfill systems and their operation. He has been involved in backfill-specific projects throughout the world, ranging from conceptual studies through to detailed designs, including construction and commissioning.
