Job Description
The Project Draughtsperson produces drawings for slurry transport system projects in the mining and resources industry, and for specialised equipment. The project draughtsperson reports to the Drawing Office Manager and assists in ensuring that drawing deliverables are done accurately, correctly and on time according to company standards and procedures.
Tasks:
- Develop and draw up Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) and Hydraulic Grade Lines (HGLs) from sketches provided by engineers
- Produce general arrangement and layout drawings of piping systems and pump stations (plans, elevations and sections) with assistance of a senior draughtsperson
- Pipework drawing including arrangement, long sections and isometrics
- Assist engineers with designing and then drawing and detailing specialised equipment
- Perform material take-offs and develop bills of quantities, equipment lists, and cost estimates with engineers
- If required, travel to sites to measure up and draw/detail equipment and systems
Responsibilities:
- Apply drawing skills to perform basic engineering and drawing tasks
- Checking and marking up of drawings, adherence to company standards and drawing procedures
- Development
- On-the-job training will be provided in specialist drawing tasks
- Continuous learning and professional development will be required to remain up to date on current practices and technology
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Formal draughting training to a national diploma or equivalent level
- AutoCAD training at a certified Autodesk training institute
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience on AutoCAD (2D)
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (3D)
- Computer literacy with basic skills in MS Excel and Word
- Able to solve problems through research and information gathering via library, internet, equipment, catalogues and supplier contracts.
- A valid passport and drivers’ license as well as willing and able to travel
- No criminal record (due to client, travel and site requirements)
