Paterson & Cooke is seeking a Controller to join the team and have responsibility for overall management and supervision of the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial policies, and procedures. The Controller will help meet the growing needs of our business. This position will work with the executive leadership team members to provide forecasting and monthly reporting. The Controller will also provide oversight of all fiscal activities, including general accounting and cash management. The Controller must demonstrate the ability and aptitude for independent work with minimal direction and ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities, including financial reporting, consistent with Paterson & Cooke’s strategic plan, and short and long-term goals and priorities
  • Work across all teams to help optimize financial performance and efficiencies and evaluate current spending to drive resource optimization
  • Coordinate and maintain all aspects of the accounting functions, including day to day accounting entries and closing the books in accordance with GAAP
  • Responsible for month end closing and financial deadlines
  • Assess the adequacy of internal controls
  • Supervision of all financial staff in the facilitation of day-to-day operation, including tracking financial data, invoicing, etc.
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Seek out methods and practices to minimize financial risk
  • Coordinate and manage all financial and tax audits
  • Coordinate the completion of all income and sales tax returns

Position Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Corporate Controller (or related: large Division Controller or large-company Assistant Corporate Controller)
  • Experience in an engineering or consulting environment (preferred, but not required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or Master’s degree preferred)
  • Clear knowledge of GAAP accounting principals
  • Experience with both time and materials and percentage of completion accounting methods
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint preferred) and Excel
  • Experience with international billing and accounting in a multi-currency environment
  • Strong working knowledge of other applications (Word/Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience managing a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Strong time-management skills

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The expected annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000. The actual salary offered for the position will be determined based on job-related qualifications, education history, and prior training and experience. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for annual bonus compensation based on company and individual performance
  • This role is also eligible to participate in the company’s benefits program including: health, dental, eye, life, accidental death and disability insurance, a health savings account, 401(k) retirement program with company match, employee ownership program, paid holidays, paid time off, and sick leave. All bonuses and benefits are subject to employee eligibility and may be modified by Paterson & Cooke any time
