Our slurry analysis capability, based on thorough research and testing at our fully equipped laboratories, is a core-competency of the group. Extensive experience over the last 15 years has made us recognised leaders in the analysis of the flow behaviour of a wide range of slurries. We have particular expertise in, and numerical models for, analysing mixed-regime slurries and high density thickened and paste tailings.
Advances in process technology have made it possible to produce high density slurries that possess high yield stresses. To transport these materials effectively and reliably means that the problems associated with laminar flow settling when the material is sheared need to be addressed, and we have developed the test procedures, equipment and analytical procedures to determine the conditions under which laminar flow settling will occur.
A thorough analytical understanding of the affect of water chemistry and clay colloidal systems means that we understand the many factors that influence the solid-liquid separation process, the performance of thickeners and the rheology of the thickened product.
