Job Description

The successful candidate will be a Senior Engineer with direct experience in leading teams through Studies for the mining and mineral resource industries. The Study Manager will have a background in mining engineering and will have demonstrated successful execution of scoping and prefeasibility through large feasibility engineering studies for surface and underground infrastructure. This position fills an important leadership role in the engineering group within our growing Sudbury office. The work will involve short-term travel to mine sites and will entail the following:

Tasks
  • Project management and leading project teams through scoping to feasibility level studies
  • Mine design, reviews and costing
  • Optimization studies
  • Equipment selection and specification
  • Technical communication, including report writing and presentations
  • Business and proposal development and client relationship management.
Responsibilities
  • Perform at a senior level within an engineering team
  • Application of technical skills to perform engineering tasks and problem solving
  • Ongoing professional development and mentorship of intermediate and junior staff

Minimum Requirements and Competencies
  • BSc or MSc engineering degree completed in minimum time
  • Registered as a professional engineer in Ontario
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral form
  • A valid driver’s license and, when required, willingness to travel
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets and modeling
  • Strong presentation and technical writing skills, especially technical reports
  • Strong project management and team leadership skills
Useful Experience (10 Years)
  • Direct knowledge of mine engineering projects and deliverables
  • Experience working in a consulting environment
  • Mining operations and design experience
  • Knowledge of scheduling and estimating considered a benefit
Personal Characteristics
  • Ability to work safely and productively in an office, industrial or mine environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work hard, act professionally and make decisions independently
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence
  • Ability to lead a project team
