Job Description

The successful applicant will be the process lead on mining and resource related projects performed by Paterson & Cooke USA. The work will involve travel for mine site and client visits which will typically be in North and South America. The work will entail the following:

  • Process lead on projects ranging from conceptual level to detailed engineering
  • Conduct on-site process and equipment audits, troubleshooting and debottlenecking
  • Produce technical communications, including report writing and presentations
  • Commission pilot plants and mineral processing equipment
  • Equipment estimating, costing and procurement
  • Contribute to developing new process capabilities
  • Conduct laboratory and pilot test work
  • Manage project engineering documents such as design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts, and general arrangements
  • Provide field project coordination, engineering services, and troubleshooting with direct client interface
  • Prepare and/or review technical reports
  • Perform project management functions for small to large-size projects with the goal of maintaining excellent client communications and the successful completion of projects within budget, schedule, and quality expectations
  • Supervise, lead and/or contribute as part of a team in projects
  • Application of technical skills to perform engineering tasks and problem solving
  • Ongoing professional development towards obtaining and maintaining professional registration
  • Adhere to Paterson & Cooke’s standard practices, procedures, safety program and protocols

Job Specification

The successful candidate will have above average abilities to meet the high standards set by our company.

  • A BS or MS degree in mineral processing or chemical engineering, completed in minimum time. Advanced degrees are considered a plus
  • US citizen or be eligible to work in the US
  • A valid driver’s license and, when required, be willing to travel
  • Strong computer skills, especially spreadsheets (Excel) and word-processing
  • Strong English language presentation and technical writing skills
  • Strong project management and team leadership skills

A minimum of 5 years of mining related mineral processing experience, some of which should be in operations. Experience in the following areas will be valuable:

  • Traditional mineral processing – crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering
  • Gold metallurgy
  • Water treatment
  • Process control
