Job Description
The successful applicant will join our drawing office to produce drawings in the field of slurry transport systems and specialised equipment for the mining and resources industry. The applicant will contribute, as part of the design team, to the design of pump stations, pipelines and specialised equipment and then produce drawing deliverables that are done professionally to company standards and procedures.
Tasks:
- Develop overland pipe routes as well as produce longitudinal sections indicating pipeline profiles.
- Develop and draw up Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's), Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID's) and Hydraulic Grade Lines (HGL's) from information provided by engineers.
- Develop general arrangement and layout drawings of piping systems, pump stations (plans, elevations and sections) and related specialised equipment from PFD's and P&ID's.
- Produce pipework drawings including arrangements, pipe spool details or isometrics.
- Assist engineers with concept development and the design of specialised equipment, and then produce detailed drawings for production and / or fabrication.
- Perform material take-offs and develop bills of quantities, equipment lists, cost estimates and specifications as required for project deliverables.
- Checking, review and marking-up drawings, ensuring compliance and adherence to standards.
- Travel to sites to measure up and draw/detail equipment and systems.
- Training draughtspersons on relevant CAD packages as well as technical items.

Job Specification
The post will require an experienced career draughtsperson who has built-up knowledge and wisdom through immersion and exposure to independently produce drawings of consistently high quality. The person must be able to contribute to the design capacity of the design office rather than simply produce drawings as instructed.
Minimum requirements and competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience on Autodesk Civil 3D
- Minimum of 10 years' experience on AutoCAD (2D).
- Formal draughting training to a national diploma or equivalent recognised level.
- At least 10 years of relevant and appropriate experience in civil works, process plant and/or mining environments - with demonstrable drawing deliverables. At least some of this experience should include layout and detailing of pump stations and pipelines,
- A high level of computer literacy with good skills in Excel, MS Office word processing and other applications. Able to install and develop expertise in specialised draughting-related software.
- Able to problem solve independently through research and information gathering via library, internet, equipment catalogues and supplier contacts.
- A valid driver's license, as well as willing and able to travel nationally.
- Understanding the fundamentals of 3D modelling in AutoCAD or relevant 3D software.
